The textile and fashion industry are facing increasing criticism for its negative impact on human health and the environment due to the extensive use of toxic chemicals. This article analyses the current legal frameworks for regulating these substances in the European Union and the United States, highlighting their gaps and lack of enforcement. Particular emphasis is placed on the importance of administrative sanctions as a tool to protect public health, garment composition transparency, and manufacturers' environmental responsibility. The paper presents case studies and highlights the need for labeling hazardous chemicals, Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), and the possibility of introducing import restrictions. It also suggests innovative approaches such as granting legal personality to nature. In conclusion stresses the need for a regulatory reform capable of responding effectively to the challenges of a globalized textile chain and promoting sustainable development in fashion.
